Introduction
Phileas by Dutch
Minister of Transport
On
January 4, 2002 the former Minister of Transport of the Netherlands, Mrs. Tineke Netelenbos,
has introduced the first Phileas vehicle. The prototype was shown for the
first time to the public and the press in the city of Veldhoven (picture on the
right). In 2003
a Phileas Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line will be operational from the central rail station in Eindhoven, to the city center
of Veldhoven. Another Phileas BRT-line will run from the central rail station in
the city of Eindhoven to the Meerhoven district. The Phileas will be operated in
HOV-lanes on designated Bus-Only roads (also see current
projects).
The pictures below show the Dutch Minister of
Transport in the drivers cabin of the Phileas (left picture) and while interviewed
after she had driven the Phileas by herself (right picture).

APTS wins regional Innovation Award
From the 12 companies nominated, the jury selected APTS because of the highly innovative characteristics of the Phileas concept.
"It's not just a new vehicle, but a concept based on the integration of vehicles, infrastructure and logistics. Also the project is considered as an example of good co-operation between the business community and the public
sector".
